May 2014

Playing catch up here…for my sake but for also for the entertainment of my 2 or 3 readers 🙂
Here’s  a quick run down of our month and the changes we noticed in our kids.
Desmond:
He’s 3.5 years old! And he worships his Dada…wears rubber bands around pants like Justin does when he rides his bike (so stylish).  We get “Why’s” all the time, for everything, everyday, it NEVER stops.  He LOVES to sound out letters in the tub and has been loving his pre-school prep book. He gets super anxious and stressed about writing the letters and shapes perfectly and always wants someone to hold his hand steady.  When dressing, he prefers to wear his underwear backward, and shirts too usually.  On purpose.  Still seems to get anxious and hyper around Julian – like he feels insecure.  He gets rough with him and really in his face.  This is usually a downward spiral since we have to keep saying enough, be gentle, too loud, etc. and then it escalates to a time out….making him feel like an outcast and as though we only favor Julian.  Ugh. I will be so happy for him when he outgrows this phase.  On the bright side he smiles and says cheese for the camera now.  He’s 41 inches tall , 39 lbs, 90th percentile in everything and has (to our surprise) perfect hearing (!).
Julian:
He’s very mobile this month, crawling like a champ now and also likes to eat things and keep them in his mouth….Des never did this!  He’s Standing up all the time now and loves to growl like a bear as he snuggles you saying “GRRR!”  This kid eats a ton, and hasn’t really refused anything except now he’s not an avocado fan.  We’re up to three (hearty) meals a day.  As far as talking goes he says Mamamammamama when he wants me  – it’s very deliberate and melts my heart!  “Oh Wow!” is another one that charms the crowds.  Julian is much bigger than Des was at this age too.  We’re going through a rough patch with sleep – our baby has a hard time going to bed on his own.  And I’ll just say it, he’s bad napper.  It’s getting increasingly hard to work with him at the office due to the sleeping issues and his mobility.   But oh, those blue eyes.  He just stares right into your SOUL.

Enjoy the pics! I think the highlight of our month was the trip to Santa Cruz.  And of course my Mother’s Day was quite lovely as well thanks to my little chef!
