March ’14

Playing catch-up here….as always.   So what was March like in the Winters’ household?  It was a little rainy (a good thing), there was not a whole lot of sleeping going on ( a bad thing), we got the deck planted (yay!), rode trains with Makena (yayyay!), went to Sonoma with Pops and Judu (SO much fun), got poison Oak (definitely a bad thing), and had our usual play-dates with Graham and Izzy.

This month was pretty magical as far as brotherly love goes.  I know it’s all going to change again, but for now Des looooves Jules.  All I hear is  ‘It’s ok Jules!’ Or  ‘Ohhh Jules we’ll be right there’…etc. etc.  He nurses his planes, his buddies, his cars and takes care of them like they are babies.  Really it’s quite sweet.  The sharing thing? Well, there’s always something to work on isn’t there.  We’ll get there.  I hope.

Desmond is going through a super clingy phase that worried me a bit but I think he’ll be ok.  He wouldn’t go anywhere in the house without me for a few weeks and REFUSED to ever go upstairs without someone with him.  He complained about the ‘Dun-da-Dun’s’ (his name for something that spooks him) a lot and always wanted the light on at night.  The actual description of Dun-Da-Dun’s changes from week to week – sometimes it looks like animals, last week it looked like a ball, but at any rate I’m taking it as a sign that he’s feeling a little uneasy about something and just needs a little extra love.  He’s still my baby and it’s hard to remember that when he’s heavy enough to crush your leg if he sits on you the wrong way or headbutts you by accident and nearly knocks you out.

Julian laughs at smiles at him all the time, he thinks Desmond is just about the coolest thing on this planet.  He’s pretty easily entertained though – thank goodness.  I still find it hard to read him – I need to look for tiny clues to see if he’s tired or hungry otherwise he’ll hold out until the last minute and then it’s waaaaaay too late.  He’s also super focused – like as in he can stare at his hands for 20 minutes and be totally content.  And can we talk about those baby kisses? Sweet, slobbery kisses and nuzzly hugs.  Oh my heart aches just thinking about it.
Now on to April!
